Scenes from the Deltana Fair & Music Festival

blinding late summer sun, melty stream of cotton candy in your mouth, dust kicking up from sandaled feet. music, voices, a siren call to toss rings over plastic ducks, and try your luck. Empty handed, tugging to go on the fast, twirling ride. Jumbling insides. painted faces, sugared and fussing and tired, howling loudly when its time to go. –The Fair   Finally getting around to posting photos from the...

Update on the Lost Dog: She’s Back Home!

If you recall, a beautiful dog was found on the Glenn Highway the other day. Well, a friend of the owner saw the Craiglist post and dog and owner were reunited! By the way, her name is Shadow. Here’s a little bit of what happened… Shadow was out 4-wheeling with her owners near the Matanuska glacier when she must have gotten spooked and ran off. This happened the same day that she was found on the...

Alaska Singer/Songwriter Marian Call Crowdsources a Tour

I recently had the pleasure of having breakfast in Anchorage at the Snow City Cafe with the ultra-talented singer/songwriter Marian Call. Marian is a self-professed geek girl on top of being a powerhouse singer based in Alaska. She is about to embark on a unique and incredibly smart DIY musical tour of the Lower 48 called 49 > 50 as in “coming from the 49th state to the rest of them.” Oh yeah, she...
